The Internet and Real Estate

This morning I received an email from Realtor.com. The first lines read: “90% of home buyers are using the internet to find their next home with over 1 in 3 finding the home they purchased online.” The percentage is even higher from some demographics.

That’s a statement that is important to Realtors, buyers and sellers and timely as I am sitting in a room with fewer than 200 Portland area real estate agents at the RainCamp Portland conference, which is hosted by ActiveRain, learning about new and existing ideas that can be applied to real estate and therefore improve the home buying and selling process.  Anyone can put a home on the Internet, how rich that experience is critical.  I think it is a perfectly fair question to ask your potential Realtor what they do to keep abreast of the latest trends in Internet real estate marketing?   There are lots of training opportunities, even some that conflict with this conference.  Nobody can do it all but if the answer is, “I’ll put your home on RMLS,” you had better keep asking questions.
